Hi, everyone!

I know, I know, it’s 75 degrees. But isn’t that dandy shopping weather?

Tomorrow is the Grand Illumination downtown! The forecast says we may have a windy and/or rainy day and evening, but fear not! If the weather is too risky for an outdoor show, the lights will still come on, and we’ll play inside the James Center Atrium! So don’t hesitate to join us for one of Richmond’s loveliest—and certainly most sparkly—traditions!

We’re gearing up for the holidays, along with everyone else, and we hope you can join us for a little festive music and spirit to accompany this lively season! I’m delighted to tell you that the wonderful folks over at Lite 98—Bill Bevins, Shelly Perkins, Kat Simons, Adam Stubbs, and Bill Cahill—are playing lots of tracks from our “You Are My Holiday” CD. In fact, Lite 98 has added eight, yes, EIGHT of our songs to their holiday play list! Wowee!! Thank you so much, Lite 98!!

Our CDs, including the new holiday CD, are available here at the web site, or you can visit Plan 9 in Carytown (or any Plan 9 store), or the following Barnes & Noble locations: Libbie Place (Libbie & Broad), Huguenot Road (across from Chesterfield Town Center), and now Short Pump (right near the Short Pump Town Center). I’ll have them at CDBaby sometime soon, too.

Please visit youtube.com, where you can see Chris Parker’s hilarious music video that he created for my song, “You Are My Holiday”! It’ll put you right in the spirit and make you chuckle enough that you’d better watch the egg nog! Here’s the link:   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q_jInIpAqU8 . Please, PLEASE share this with everyone you know; wouldn’t it be fun to make it one of the top videos on YouTube?!

While it’s not holiday-specific, you can still listen to my State Song candidate, download it, and share it with family and friends. The link is http://www.susangreenbaum.com/content/virginiadownload.html I’m also very interested in hearing your feedback—good and bad—about the song, so don’t be shy!

Our Carole King “Tapestry” night was another sold-out success, and we thank everyone for coming to both shows! We’ll be taking the show to Charlottesville on Feb. 9, at Gravity Lounge, and that happens to be Carole King’s birthday. Maybe we’ll have cake! I’ll keep you posted if we are able to put together some bed-and-breakfast deals, in case you’d like to spend a lovely weekend in C’ville AND enjoy the “Tapestry” music.

Dear friends,

We have had a terribly difficult start to the year here in Richmond. While the weather is certainly reminiscent of spring in January, I encourage you nonetheless to keep each other warm by holding your loved ones close. Every day we have together is precious, even when traffic is bad, the rain and cold dampen our spirits, little arguments ruffle our feathers, or things just don’t seem to be going the way we’d like. While January is a traditional time of resolutions that often are simply memories within days, weeks, or months, I hope to make my resolution stick. I resolve to let annoyances roll off my back, keep in mind who and what are most important, and to be quick with a smile and kind word, slow with criticism and frustration. I do this in memory of the Harveys, and I will strive to make it a lifelong resolution.

If you would like to make a donation to the Bryan and Kathryn Harvey Family Memorial Endowment, you will be helping to keep alive memories of the Harvey family and also fund music, visual art and performing arts enrichment in the Richmond area; this may include but is not limited to educational scholarships. The Community Foundation Serving Richmond and Central VA (tax ID # 23-7009135) created the fund in memory of Bryan, Kathryn, Stella and Ruby at the request of family and friends, and a committee of family and friends will advise the Community Foundation in use of the endowment. This is a 501(c )3 organization.
